I've got two people to thank because of their artistic influences:
- He is currently one of my top favourite artists this year for anything 'anthro-cartoony'. His stuff is brilliantly full of life, cute, fashionable and clean. Simplicity and clean line-art are his influences on this piece.
- She is also another artist I've been watching very recently. I LOVE her bad-ass character designs. They're sexy, colourful and dynamically posed. Interesting colour contrasts and shading work are her influences on this piece.
So a big thank you to those two! Please continue to keep up the terrific stuff!
Oh and of course a BIG thank you goes to everyone who has helped contributed their feedback and opinion on Ashworth's redesign.
Hello! Sorry for the lack of comments in your latest works. I'm now in Easter break from work so I'm taking the chance to comment your newest artworks (saving you know-what)
Look who revived from the dead It's nice to see you inspired for your own ideas again! Yeah the break for fanart was necessary, I fully understand that now.
Anyway, regarding this piece in first place: Yep Ashworth wears pants now. I'm okay with it I like the way you made the colors and light effects. And the pose is well done and the inclination of the angle was been a good shoot. Well moving for the next, I have more 5 pieces of yours to comments!
Hey mr. Wong I wanted to thank you for all those kind words and comments. ^^ Sorry , it took me so long to reply. Made my day as well! And it's a real joy to realize someone keeps getting inspired by my art as well! I remember myself watching you on your old account and must say you keep geting better and better. How's your comic work's going by the way?
And I really like the new design you applied for Ashworth! Really fits. Good luck with upcoming arts.
Goodness me! I thought I replied to this the moment you replied 6 days ago! Gargh! Gonna blame the poor internet connections at work, no wonder it didn't go through! X_X;;
Nevertheless thank you for the reply! Your most welcome on the mention, it's pretty darn cool to know that you have seen my old account way back!
My comic work is taking in a new direction and I'm confident that I will come up with something completely new and unexpected.
I've just recently finished drawing a fan art piece for [link] and will be doing more of it for others in future to break from drawing the usual stuff. Hmm... I wonder who's up next on my list...? *visits your gallery*
So it looks like Ma Fei may make a comeback to the new story but what about the others? I have no further plans made yet, I just want to focus on Ashworth's story mainly first off (and Ruby will play a major role as well, so be expecting to see her in the near future!).
Question: How do you make lineart merge with colors so well? I think you explained this before but I forgot where so... sorry for bothering you. This coloring is amazing though, you are making a very quick progress. The design is great but I must say I really liked the demon scarf from before. XD I like that idea that Zepher is its own creature though (could be one as a scarf too but I am guessing this way it gives him more freedom). The pants idea really depends on the style of anthro you are planning to use. If you want him to have more natural look (anatomy vise) then pants it is! Keep up with awesomeness!
Finish your completed drawing (that is fully coloured AND, more importantly, has clean and thin lineart). Next you copy the layer on top of the original. Then on the 'copy' layer apply Gaussian Blur on it. Adjustments will require experimentation.
The next thing you need to do is change the PROPERTIES of the blurred layer. This is where you'll have to land another round of EXPERIMENTATION to get it looking just right. I chose HARD LIGHT for this piece.
Hope that works! Play around and you'll find the right set of combinations that work for you!
Thanks for the feedback and let me know how you went with the latest drawing should you apply the technique Sky! ^^
"It's not about staying Down--you simply can't keep Up with me!!"
This is all about the Fire Within and the Burning Heart--'nuff said.
I'm really glad you decided to stick with the bare upper body and a tasteful and cool-looking pants scheme; the color does a wonderful job at contrasting with his fur color, and the ripped leg helps to tell you about his personality. What's even better is the Look he's shooting at you--Confidence and general Bad-Assery all in one!!
The lighting does a great job at bringing out the scenery--snow and sunlight make for a palette of marvelous combinations.
Here's hoping for a great Story when it's his time to debut!!

You know.. I seem to always liked how Ashworth looked, and seeing the redesign of him from the input from others looks just amazing! It seems the great colorscheme with blue and yellow with white mix quite well! Not to mention how I seem to have that kind of warm feeling again, you must have put some orange there with the yellow ^^
I still have yet to read the comic you've done with your original characters here, I think I've read only one part of it back in the days, but I can't remember x_x I should just go buy that manga book you have XD how that would make it so much easier for me! Also man.. I just seriously love that little ghost guy thing.. I don't know what it is yet, but I just seem to love how he's glaring or looking down at us, that's pretty cool! Even with the background kind of faded in the background, shows well they're in a snowy kind of forest. Is this what you were talking about when I showed that empty snowy area outside my house? XD
Anyways, excellent work Elson! I wish I could have put my input as well on the designs while not being so busy x_x but it seems people here have helped you quite well! Keep it up Elson!
Also XDD the title threw me off! Secretly Blaze is hiding in the snow XDD *shot*

Wow, your coloring is so cool! Mister Elson? is this the design you liked? I mean, you just did Ashworth's design according to what other people (we) like, not yours. don't you mind if people choose something you don't like? :3 (I know you like this, I'm just asking... ^^)
oh my XD I know I haven't commented on your work in a while but i just couldn't resist with this one! Ash looks absolutely amazing! Loving his design, one of the most original characters I have seen in a while I must say. loving the anatomy you have done here I wish I could do as much detail as you can for my boys, lol The lighting is amazing as per usual, I have always envied your abilities at lighting and how it falls onto the characters. Just absolutely fantastic! Great job on this Mr. Elson! ^^
Cheers for getting back to me SilverJixx! I appreciate your feedback on the character re-design of Ashworth - he's come a long way and I can't wait to show off his new role in ASHWORTH: Tales of the Cursed Wombat. ^^
My abilities to create lighting like this is only just early/humble beginnings! I've much more to learn to be very honest! If you want to check out more dynamic lighting in anthro-cartoon characters check out 's gallery.
Awww, Ash doesn't have his epic croch anymore. Oh well, easy come easy go. But all in all, you GREATLY approved Ashworth since he looks alot less sonicy, than the previous versions, due to the fur detail, which I still tend to struggle with.
Oh, and you did awesome on the whachamacallit scarf-demon thing. Looks alot more intimidating and less Soul Eater-ish than the previous version.
The pic itself looks AWESOME!
But I would have to argue that his right leg looks kinnda weird, I dunno.
When are you planning to dish out Ruby and Fei? Preferably Fei 1st, because you didn't really show much of him in that early preview, other than 1 eye, and I'd like to see how you've gone to make him look like a horse that he is, rather than a dog-look-alike. XP
I know those two Indeed they are awesome artists!! I feel motivated when I see their new pics, but... the ideas run out with a simple distraction.
NOW the picture
I have to say this is an awesome piece that shows the attitude of the character with the pose and the colors, use those clothes are good idea, the character is half anthro and half sonic, right? The anatomy is very well done
Looks absolutely amazing, Elson! The lines truly are very smooth and I think you've accomplished your desired quality well. I also love the design for Ashworth that you went with. It's very fitting to the character.
I just love how you do lighting in your pictures. The gleaming light is always so active flowing from its direction. Great work overall!
